Newt Project 2014

In partnership with the University of Lincoln's Dr Charles Demming and funded by a grant from the Royal Society, we have been studying newts. We are lucky enough to have a wildlife pond in our nature area and we have set some traps to collect the newts. The children have been involved in the collection, working out the best way to measure their length and weight along with investigating the life cycles of these amphibians. We are also collecting newts from 2 additional ponds in the village which belong to families of children here in school (thank you, Dr Casey and Miss Lowrie!) as well as the pond at a neighbouring primary school, Brocklesby Park.
